Gardening from Kitchen Scraps and More

We have a great Coffee Chat this morning. And I just wanted to share the video I mentioned during our chat about growing food from kitchen scraps. As well there are other posts that have been shared on our Facebook page as well (https://www.facebook.com/awialberta). Below is the video on growing from Kitchen Scraps what works and what doesn’t. Enjoy!

March News and Notes

Greetings all,
The March issue of the News and Notes is now available for your reading pleasure. Hard copies will be mailed out to those branches and members who do not receive it via email later this week. Also coming in the mail are the cash raffle tickets. I will be sending the same number to you as you received last year. The proceeds from the cash raffle help to offset the cost of the Provincial Convention. The more cash raffle tickets sold, then cost of the Provincial Convention can be kept to a more affordable price. Despite rising costs of hotel conference services, food and of course accommodations.

Other News and Notes Highlights – Updating on Convention Planning; Upcoming events around the Province, an FWIC news!

Tuesday Coffee Chat Recap – Scams

Greetings all,
Today’s Tuesday Coffee Chat was great! Thank you to all the ladies that join the meeting and the conversation. It was awesome to hear how you did on February’s Kindness Challenge!

This month’s topic was Scams and as promised during our chat, I said I would share the resources I was mentioning to you during our conversation after the fact.

Why talk about scams and why should you care? According to the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre here are some statistics to consider why you may want to pay attention.

As of June 2023 there have been 32,458 reports processed (compared to 92,078 in 2022). The number of Victims of Fraud as of June 2023 21,299 (compared to 57,578 in 2022). Finally, the amount of Funds Lost to Frauds as of June 2023 was $282.5 Million (compared to $531 Million in 2022). Fraud and scams affects EVERYONE! Scammers are smart and getting trickier. They spend all day trying to trick us but there are some things you can do. Get informed!

Tuesday Coffee Chats Starting Up!

Greetings all,

Our Virtual Tuesday Coffee Chats will be starting up again on Tuesday, January 30! Our topic this time around is “Putting Yourself First Isn’t Selfish”. This is something I personally struggle with daily. I will share my journey towards being more ‘selfish’ and what that means for me.

Visit our Online Learning page for full details about this meeting and for the meeting invitation link, as well as past topics we’ve chatted about.

If you misplace your Zoom link information for this meeting, here’s a little secret, the meeting link is attached to the picture above, so you simply click on the coffee cup, and it will open Zoom to launch the meeting. Hope to see you on Tuesday, January 30th.
