A Message from Marilyn Wattenbarger, AWI Handicraft Coordinator.
Welcome to spring everyone. Easter has just passed and it was a wonderful warm weekend. Hoping everyone got to have dinner with one member of their family.
There have been some changes accepted by council to the Handicraft list. There is a new category called “Felting” and the Arts section has been altered and expanded. Please look for these changes in the new Handicraft List which will be published by the AWI Council. I am hoping that everyone has been able to complete projects to put in the up and coming AWI Convention in September. There will be two items per category allowed from each branch, but these must be from two different members. This is a one time allowance because of COVID-19 and the in person AWI convention 2020 being cancelled.
Happy crafting in whatever category you enjoy.

Greetings:
Your Provincial Council had a meeting March 29 via Google Meets.
We approved the changes to the Handicraft List. This will be posted on our Website by the end of April. We had a discussion on burials in rural graveyards, the appeal of these plots for our urban neighbours and issues facing local residents not as active with rural cemeteries and churches. Watch for more on this. Our next council meeting is May 31
The first donation from the collection of recycled bottles was received. Thank you to Grace Scheffelmair, Ridgewood WI for the $30 donation.

It is snowing a bit today (Feb 26) so I am thinking that March may come in like a lion and out like a lamb. I am so ready for spring with hopes for a new beginning of all things bright and beautiful.
There were 227 participants on the WI Celebrates cross Canada event on the internet. Several from the United Kingdom and the World President from South Africa were on the call. Internet gatherings will probably be a lasting benefit from the pandemic just as a supplement I hope to in person meetings.
